ROSSANA ESTHER BARRIA VALLADARES

ROSSANA ESTHER BARRIA VALLADARES nació en Punta Arenas el 1 de abril de 1968. Hija de Sergio Barria y Anita Valladares, y hermana mayor de la familia compuesta también por sus hermanos Cristian y Rodrigo, crece en el seno de una familia de profundos valores católicos.

Formada en el The British School de Punta Arenas donde egresa en 1984 para continuar con sus estudios en el Instituto Chileno Británico de Cultura de Santiago para obtener el título de Profesora de Inglés y luego un Master en Currículum en Universidad de Talca.

Trabaja en Liceo 1 de Santiago y Liceo 7 de Providencia. Defensora de la excelencia en la Educación Pública, en 2017 recibe la “Medalla al Mérito” como Mejor Docente del Año de Providencia, y en 2019 es finalista del “Global Teacher Prize”. Crea el equipo de debate que representa a Chile en Naciones Unidas en Nueva York, y el programa de intercambio de Liceo 7 con la escuela Avenues of the World.

Fallece el 9 de febrero de 2021 tras una dura lucha contra el cáncer, siendo sobrevivida por sus padres, hermanos y cuñadas, familia, y sus amados sobrinos.

ROSSANA ESTHER BARRIA VALLADARES was born on april 1st 1968 in Punta Arenas. Daughter to Sergio Barria and Anita Valladares, and elder sister of the family also composed by her siblings Cristian and Rodrigo, is raised in the heart of a profound Catholic family.

Graduated in 1984 from The British School of Punta Arenas, continues her education in Santiago at the Instituto Chileno-Británico de Cultura to obtain the degree of Teacher of English and later on a Master´s degree in Curricular Education at Universidad de Talca.

Works at Liceo 1 of Santiago and Liceo 7 of the Santiago´s Providencia District. Fond defender of the Public Education system, in 2017 is awarded with “Medal of Merit” as Best Teacher of Providencia, and in 2019 is finalist of the “Global Teacher Prize” award. Creates the debate team that represented Chile at United Nations in New York, and the exchange program of Liceo 7 and Avenues of the World school.

Rossana passes away on feb. 9^th 2021 after a hard battle against cancer, survived by her parents, siblings and in-laws, relatives, and her loving nieces and nephew.
